add idtagv2 support and make gtk2 version soon. and better open dialogs.
development seems to be dead.. jmk - Tuesday, July 01, 2003 at 21:15:23
when will you add support for id3v2?
maybe you could remove id3v1 fields and only display id3v2 fields, which automatically copies to id3v1 without the user noticing, and vice versa. (that would be less messy than displaying both v1 and v2)
hm..support for winamp3 skins is is possible? Andreas - Monday, June 30, 2003 at 15:57:32

Great app, BTW I agree with Zeky switching to the WA3 interface would just be a novelty. Plus they say they'll be releasing WA3 on linux eventually anyways... andy ( aholmes84 at hotmail.com ) - Monday, April 07, 2003 at 12:37:36
Well, this really is nothing but a hacked version of Winamp, but hey it was nicely done. Now I can use this player in Linux, and Winamp in Windows without missing a thing! Thanks TJ ( trin20t at fuse.net ) - Monday, April 07, 2003 at 01:04:50
I think that XMMMS is the best mediaplayer for *nix systems. I think that it so popular, because it has interface of winamp, and it is important for windows users. IMHO, XMMS ought not to change interface to winamp 3 type.

xmms is an integral part of every desktop I set up for myself. I don't get the chance to thank enough the people who spend so much of their time and talent towards open source apps, so thank you very, very much. Neville Chamberlin - Monday, December 09, 2002 at 17:32:36
Hey xmms Team,
I love this app... truly is 'killer'. Two quibbles, though:
1) It would be nice to know that libxml is required to activate the Cd Audio plugin. Took me a while to figure this out.
2) Your system for checking for intsalled libraries when installing from source leaves something to be desired vis-a-vis ease of use. I finally resorted the .deb after having an impossible time figuring out why 'configure' couldn't find libxml, libvorbis, or libogg.
Otherwise, keep rocking the good work, y'all! blondie@elysium.dotquad - Sunday, December 08, 2002 at 03:58:53

Many thanks! David ( david at thevirtualyou.com ) - Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 00:04:53
I want to run xmms on one server and send the output to a sound card on another server.
You have some setup info in your documentation that says:
3.6.2.3 eSound Output
---------------------
The 'ESD' plugin will use the 'Enlightened Sound Daemon' to playback the audio.
It's useful if you want to be able to have sound effects in your programs and
still be able to listen to music with XMMS.
In the 'Server' tab of the configuration, you can tell the plugin where to send
the audio data. Enable 'Use remote host' and enter the name/ip of the server
and port to send to. This is probably only useful in a LAN environment, since
the audio data is sent uncompressed to the remote ESD.
The 'Buffering' tab works just like the 'OSS Driver' one.
Is there some other doc somewhere that would explain this better. What / how do I configure the remote host to receive the data on the lan?
Can I do what I am asking?
